The exit transition is most often one that nobody plans for because it doesn't feel urgent until one day it really is. 

For docs, our formula has also been pretty straight-forward: see more patients, build the practice, grow the number. We produce and that mindset serves us well.

But at some point (and it's earlier than we ever care to believe) the job slowly shifts. It stops being about producing more and starts being about stewarding what we’ve already built, which includes the savings and investments inside and outside our medicine professional corporations. 

This all comes with a different set of skills and questions and most of us only realize the gradual shift even happened in hindsight. Simply, winding down our med corporation isn't a single event at the end–it's a set of decisions that need a runway… some of them as long as a decade.
